Zengain Signals and Accounts

Each Account in Salesforce corresponds to a unique Customer in Zengain. This uniqueness is ensured through the inclusion of a custom field, ZGCustomerID, in each Salesforce account. This is the Zengain customer ID which serves as a unique customer identifier.

Customer engagement data is captured and stored in Zengain as signals. The corresponding datatype in Salesforce is a custom field ZGSignal in the Account object. The ZGSignal data is updated automatically every 15 minutes from Zengain using a triggered, automated flow with built-in duplicate (by customer ID) rejection. Signals cannot be altered in Zengain and so there is no need to consider updating existing ZGSignal records.

The Zengain panel on the Account page for a Salesforce account displays signal data received from Zengain for the corresponding customer. An example of how this appears is shown below, specifically in the Account Signals table.

Above the Account Signals table is the Open Customer In Zengain button. Clicking this will open the Zengain page for that customer in a separate browser window, following Zengain login if required.

Data in the Account Signals table is displayed in reverse-chronological order: the most recent records are shown at the top of the table.

The columns in the Account Signals table may be subject to change. Currently, these are:

  • SignalName

  • Description

  • Username

  • ClientCreated

  • Contact

Of particular note is the Contact field. This is a hyperlink containing the name of the Zengain contact associated with this signal. Clicking this link will open the corresponding Contact page in Salesforce (see next page.)
