Attaching a file to an entitlement
In some use cases, a physical file is a helpful addition to the entitlement being given to your end user. This functionality allows you to attach a file to the entitlement record, enabling the end user to self-serve (download) that file from the End User Portal (EUP).
It is attached to the entitlement record in the EUP as well as the Zentitle2 back end and has API records as well. Permissions are required to manage these files.
Details
The License file functionality has been introduced at the Entitlement Group level. This feature allows authorized users to upload, replace, delete, and download license files associated with a given entitlement group.
The functionality is available both in the Zentitle2 and the End User Portal (EUP), with role-specific differences in what users can do.
The License file feature provides a secure and manageable way of associating license files with Entitlement groups:
Zentitle2: Users with specific roles (all roles except “Support” and “Viewer”) can fully manage license files (upload, replace, delete, download).
EUP: End users can only view and download existing files.
Conditions for Availability
The License file card is only visible on the Entitlement group details page.
In Zentitle2:
The card is always visible, regardless of whether a file exists.
Upload, Replace, and Delete actions require appropriate permissions.
In the EUP:
Entitlement Group functionality must be enabled for EUP.
Go to Administration → Configuration → End User Portal page to ensure that “Show entitlements groups” is set to “Everyone”.
The card is displayed only if a license file exists for the selected Entitlement Group.
The only action available is Download.
Functionality in Zentitle2
The License file section can be accessed in two ways:
From the Entitlements option in the menu
Navigate to Entitlements → Entitlement Groups tab.
Select a specific entitlement group from the list.
Goes to the Entitlement Group page.
Via the Entitlement Details page
Open the details page of any Entitlement.
In the “Entitlement Group” box, click the Details button.
Goes to the Entitlement Group page.
Managing the license file
Admins can easily upload, replace, delete, and download a license file with the following parameters: Text format, maximum 100KB | File name, maximum 50 characters (including extension).
Uploading a new file to the entitlement record

On the Entitlement Group page, a box titled License file is displayed:
To upload a file, click Upload.
This opens a file selector, add your file, and click open to select it.

Once uploaded, you will get a "success" alert.

Then, you will see a file attached to the entitlement record, and your End Users (once you have enabled this functionality on the EUP) can download the file via the EUP end-user page.

As you can see from the example, the file is recorded with a time of upload, so you can track these operations.
When a license file exists
On the Entitlement Group page, a box titled License file is displayed, with additional metadata and actions:
Displayed fields:
File name → shows the uploaded file’s name. Uploaded date → shows the upload date in standard format.

Available actions (header, right-hand side):
Download → allows downloading the license file.
Replace → opens a file picker; the user is prompted to confirm overwriting the existing file.
Delete → removes the license file after confirmation.
Download the file
Clicking the download button allows you to check the file; it will download to the browser's standard location.

Replace the file
Clicking replace allows you to upload a new file easily using the samer process as the initial upload above.

Delete the file
You can easily remove a file by deleting it.

Click delete - and remember once deleted it cannot be retrieved (so downloading beforehand might be prudent).

You will get a confirmation option; click delete again to confirm.

You will receive a confirmation message once done.
Functionality in End User Portal (EUP)
The License file section can be accessed via the Groups option in the menu.
Click on Groups option in the menu.
Open the details page of an Entitlement Group.
On the Entitlement Group page, a box titled License file is displayed.

In the EUP, the License file card is read-only:
The card is only visible if a license file has been uploaded in Zentitle2.
Displayed fields:
File name
Uploaded date
Available action:
Download button in the card header.
No upload, replace, or delete options are available in the EUP.
